Welcome to Sunita Hansen Fine Art

Sunita Hansen is a self-taught artist from Bellville, Cape Town, who has been carving her art career by attending workshops in different media from well established artists like Rene Snyman, Elize Bezuidenhout, Cathy Milner, Alice Toich and Inge Semple.  

She is dividing her time between teaching Art to Grade 4-7 learners and creating art for exhibitions. She is a member of SASA, a committee member of Art.b Gallery and a prophetic artist at her church.

She works in a variety of mediums and has recently added Dry point etching to her list of favorite mediums. She has had a lifelong fascination with the nuances of the sea, figures and seasonal changes in nature. She often ventures into the outdoors to discover new places to paint or sketch en plein air in and around Cape Town.  She utilizes her sketchbooks, plein air studies and photographs  to create etches, linocuts and paintings in water colour, gouache and oil.

 She invites her audience to envision the beauty, emotions and poetry that she discovers   in ordinary and familiar places.  She maintains a practice of recording her travels in numerous sketchbooks to document her life.  She aims to live out her God-given talent to the full and educates herself by continuous independent study and workshops.

She has been participating in various group exhibitions as well as curated art exhibitions in the Western Cape for the last 6 years.
