The objective of this paper is to study the workability, compressive, splitting tensile, flexural, chloride resistance, interface and pore structure of concrete reinforced with polypropylene and basalt fibres. Sixteen mixtures consisting of PP and BF both at volume content of 0.0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3% were fabricated and cured for 28 and 56 days.

Q. WHAT IS BASALT? A. Basalt is a common extrusive volcanic rock. An inert rock found worldwide, basalt is the generic term for solidified volcanic lava. Safe and abundant, basalt rock has long been known for its thermal properties, strength and durability. Q. WHAT IS BASALT FIBER? A. Basalt fiber is a material made from [.]

the addition of steel fibers for concrete have been carried out in the USA by Dinh and others [6] and last time in Canada in the McGill University [7]. However, only very few experimental tests have been conducted on the RC two span beams with non-metallic fibers, especially with basalt .

Basalt fiber is a high performance non-metallic fiber made from basalt rock melted at high temperature, It has great strength characteristics, good thermal resistance and high resistance to an alkaline environment, making it an excellent material for reinforcing concrete. The Basalt reinforced concrete was reviewed for its mechanical properties ...

Up to now, the research on the dynamic compressive mechanical behaviour of basalt–polypropylene fibre-reinforced concrete containing mineral admixtures (BPFRC) have, to the best of our knowledge, not been reported. In addition, the lacking dynamic constitutive model for BPFRC is necessary to promote its application in building structures.

Basalt fiber reinforced polymer rebar is a rod with continuous spiral ribbing, of any length, and with diameter of up to 36 mm. It is produced from basalt reinforced composite materials and offers a combination of high strength and corrosion resistance. Tensile strength of composite rebar is 3 times higher than that of steel rebar.

Basalt fiber is a relative newcomer to fiber reinforced polymers (FRPs) and structural composites. It has a similar chemical composition as glass fiber but has better strength characteristics, and unlike most glass fibers is highly resistant to alkaline, acidic and salt attack making it a good candidate for concrete, bridge and shoreline structures.

There has been little research on Polypropylene fibre and none has published on the design method of concrete composition for this fibre reinforcement. Therefore, the research work presented in this paper has been focused onto Polypropylene fibre as reinforcement for concrete.

In this work, an investigation is made to evaluate the flexural toughness of hybrid fibre-reinforced high-performance concrete (HPC) containing different combinations of basalt (B) and polypropylene (P) fibres. The experimental studies consisted of the three-point flexural tests on notched beam specimens. The specimens incorporated basalt/polypropylene (BP) fibres in 11 mixtures with ...

Crushed basalt is used for road base, concrete aggregate, asphalt pavement aggregate, railroad ballast, filter stone in drain fields and may other purposes. Basalt is also cut into dimension stone. ... is basalt and polypropylene has good combination for m20 concrete; compressive strength of basalt rock;

Basalt fiber have better physical and mechanical properties and better alkali resistance, some performance are second only to carbon fiber, and the cost of basalt fiber is far lower than carbon fiber, So the basalt fiber have a broad application prospects in the field of cement-based composite materials.

Basalt Fiber has a similar chemical composition as regular glass fiber but Basalt Fiber has better strength characteristics, and unlike most glass fibers is highly resistant to acidic and salt attack and alkaline, making it a good option for concrete, bridge and shoreline structures.

Effect of Basalt Fiber and Polypropylene Fiber on Hybrid Fiber ... combination with other reinforcement (basalt / carbon fibers). Basalt fiber can be used thermal & sound ... concrete has good characteristics such as, volume stability, good workability, good stability, excellent ...

In [9], data on the compressive and tensile strengths of fi- ber-reinforced concrete with basalt and polypropylene fibers are presented. The results show that the optimum dose for basalt fiber ...

The fresh, mechanical, and durability properties of the polypropylene fiber-reinforced mortar (PP FRM) and the basalt fiber-reinforced mortar (BFRM) with various fiber contents were tested in this paper. The test results show that the presence of polypropylene (PP) fiber and basalt fiber (BF) in the mortar reduces the initial slump flow and increases the slump flow loss rate.

Basalt fibre has a high content of SiO2, which reacts with the Ca(OH)2 produced by the hydration of Portland cement. As a result, it will form more CSH that is responsible for increasing the general strength of the concrete, Mochamad Solikin [18]. Basalt fibre is a multi-performance fibre. It has several

Basalt Chopped Fibers can be mixed directly into polymers and concrete to increase tensile strength and reduce cracking and chipping.

Aug 01, 2006· In crushed form, basalt also finds use as aggregate in concrete. More recently, continuous fibers extruded from naturally fire-resistant basalt have been investigated as a replacement for asbestos fibers, in almost all of its applications. In the last decade, basalt has emerged as a contender in the fiber reinforcement of composites.

Based on Experimental investigation for M-20 grade of concrete, this paper provides result data of the compressive strength, and split tensile strength of fibrillated polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete (PFRC) containing fibers of 0% and 0.25% volume fraction by .

An investigation was carried out on basalt fiber-reinforced concrete (BFRC) produced using various dosages of basalt fibers. The concrete mixture was designed with a target strength of 35 MPa ...

Matrix basalt reinforcing member constructed and arrange to provide lateral support for the longitudinal bar steel or FRP tendons that provide tensile strength to cementitious material or plastics to reduce bending moment by reducing the onset of shear. The reinforcement members are formed from basalt fibers treated with a thermoplastic thermoset polymer and formed into structures to provide ...
